Spain WWII Order Military Merit Cross with Red Distinction General Franco 1938 1975

SPAIN: Cross of the Order of Military Merit, 1st 
Class, with Red Distinction (war time award). 
On the obverse the heraldic symbols of Castile 
& Leon and in the center the one of Granada. 
On the reverse the initials (MM) for Military 
Merit. 
The Order was created by Queen Isabel II in 
1864. 
This version of the medal was awarded 
during the era of General Franco (1938 - 1975) 
either to the Nationalist Forces of the Spanish 
Civil War (1936 - 1939) or to the Spanish Blue 
Legion that served with the Axis forces in the 
WW2 Campaign against the Soviet Union or 
to the Spanish Forces that fought during the 
colonial wars of the 1950s in the Spanish 
African territories.
