Product Information
Specification
NAZI GERMANY: WW2 German Riding Equestrian
Badge, 1st Class ("Gold").
The badge was instituted in 1930, in 3 grades (gold,
slver, bronze), by the German National Federation
for the Breeding and Testing of Thoroughbreds.
The badge was a military award in the sense that
it was issued by the Army - at the time the largest
equestrian organization in Germany.
It could be awarded to military personnel and
civilians that demonstrated horsemanship and
knowledge of riding theory, anatomy and horse
mastership.
The tests for the award were administered by
Artillery and Cavalry Captains (battery or
squadron commanders).
The badge remained in use in this form (without
swastika) during WW2 and it is also issued today
(without the "R").
Marked on the reverse as a Protected/Patented
design (Gesetzlich Geschutzt) and also maker
marked by Lauer, Nurnberg - Berlin.
The badge is rare.
