ITALY: WW2 GIL Blue Cross of Merit.
The GIL (Gioventù Italiana del Littorio) was
Mussolini's Fascist Youth Organization - the
Italian equivalent to The Hitler's Youth.
The Blue Cross was awarded by the GIL to the
"Avanguardisti" (boys aged 14–18).
Originally created in 1933 under the ONB, it was
updated to this version in 1937 when the ONB was
restructured into the GIL.
A rare and historically significant medal reflecting
the fascist indoctrination of youth during
Mussolini's regime.
Hard to find in preserved condition today.
