Germany - Kingdom of Saxony: Cross of Honor
for Voluntary Nursing in War 1914 1915.
The Cross of Honor for Voluntary Welfare Work
was established in Mar. 1912, by King Friedrich
August III.
It was awarded to men, women and young
women in recognition of services in the field of
voluntary nursing both in peacetime and later
during wartime.
A decree of Oct. 1915, determined the name
change to the Cross of Honor for Voluntary
Nursing in War.
On March, 1916, the Cross of Honor was once
again renamed to the Cross of Honor for
Voluntary Welfare in War.
There are versions of the Cross with the following
dates on the reverse: 1914-1915, 1914-1916,
1914-1917 and 1914-1918.
The crosses dated 1914-1915 are the rarest ones.
