Silver patriotic badge for the death of Kaiser 
Friedrich III (Frederick III) in 1888. 
Kaiser Freidrich III succeeded his father 
Wilhelm I on 9 Mar. 1888. 
He was suffering however from cancer of the 
larynx and he died on 15 Jun. 1888, aged 56, 
following unsuccessful medical treatment for 
his condition. Kaiser Freidrich III reigned for 
just 99 days.
