Imperial Germany - Baden: Commemorative Medal
for the Campaign of 1848-1849.
Gilt example awarded to officers - though the gilt
finish has partially faded, it remains visible on both
sides.
Designed by Kachel and instituted by Grand Duke
Leopold in 1849, this medal honors those who
helped suppress the Baden Revolution, with
support from the Prussian Army.
The Revolution of Baden is considered as part of
the March Revolution, a revolutionary unrest that
gripped almost all of Central Europe.
A historic artifact from the March Revolution
period, this medal is a significant piece for 19th-
century military and political collectors.
