Austria Hungary WWI Officer's Legitimization Case (Dog Tag) of a Captain of the Infantry Regiment N.52 "Baikovitz"

Austro-Hungarian Empire: Officer's Legitimi-
zation Case of a Captain of the Infantry 
Regiment N.52 "Baikovitz". 
The case is engraved with the Imperial 
Cypher of Kaiser Franz Joseph I 
on the obverse and the Austro-Hungarian 
Coat of Arms (Double headed crowned 
Eagle) on the reverse. The respective ones 
for the NCOs and the enlisted men were 
plain.
Inside the case was kept, according to the 
Austro-Hungarian system, the service record, 
including the ID and receipts of received 
decorations of the soldier or in this case of 
the Officer. 
The concept as well as the dimensions 
(5,5cm x 3 cm) of the Legitimization Case is 
very close to the "Dog Tags".
