NAZI Germany: Donation Badge of the 1935
Formula 1 German Grand Prix (Car Race), for
the support of the XI Olympiad - Olympic
Games (held in Berlin in 1936).
Maker marked: Stubbe, Berlin.
Also marked "Ges. Gesch." (German mark
for protected design - copyright patented).
A scarce Olympic badge.
Interesting fact: Despite every expectation
the Italian driver Tazio Nuvolari, in an outdated
330 bhp Alfa Romeo won the race.
The undisputed favorite to win the Grand Prix,
the German driver Manfred von Brauchitsch,
in the most powerful racing car, the 445 bhp
W25 Mercedes Benz came 5th.
The Nazi officials being so certain about the
inevitable German triumph had only available
to play, during the award ceremony,
the German anthem "Deutschland Uber Alles".
The lack of a recording of the Italian anthem
was solved by the winner Nuvolari himself
who offered his own record of the "Marcia
Reale", that he always carried with him as a
good luck charm.
