With the names of the battles the Regiment
participated in during theWar against Greece
(Kalpaki, Drinos Valley, Zeta Valley, Maji Terzori,
Devri).
Signed by Boeri in Rome.
The 47th Infantry Regiment participated in the
Greek-Italian War under the chain of command
of the 23rd Mountain Infantry Division "Ferrara".
Italy invaded Greece on 28 October 1940 from
the Italian occupied Albania.
The 23rd Inf. Div. "Ferrara" managed to advance
about 25 km within the Greek territory but by 6
Nov. 1940 the Division was halted just 500 meters
from Kalpaki city center.
The Greek counterattack pushed the Italians deep
inside the Albanian territory.
Trying to prevent the imminent Italian defeat,
Germany attacked Greece and Yugoslavia, from/
with Bulgaria, on 6 Apr. 1941 and forced the
continental Greek Forces to capitulate 3 weeks
later.
A scarce medal.
