Greece: Bronze Patriotic Medal featuring Prime 
Minister Eleftherios Venizelos and Greece in
the form of an Angel who breaks the chains of
the enslaved Greek populations.
Inscribed "ΙΕΡΟΣ ΑΓΩΝ" (Sacred Struggle), dated
1912.

Issued for the 1st Balkan War, 1912-1913.
The medal is signed by X. Brayat (Xavier Brayat, 
French engraver).
The medal is scarce.
During the 1st Balkan War the alliance of Greece, 
Bulgaria, Montenegro and Serbia liberated the 
remaining Christian populations of the European 
territories from the Ottoman Empire. 
The War ended with the Treaty of London in 1913.
