Britain - France: Trench art, WW1 era, match 
box made of ordnance brass.
Obverse: Inscribed "Arras" (Battle of Arras, 09 
Apr. - 16 May 1917) and decorated with flowers.
Reverse: Dated 1914-17, decorated with the 
British Crown and the crossed flags of France 
and Britain.
Side: Inscribed in chronological order: "Mons" 
(Battle of Mons, 23 Aug. 1914), "Marne" (Battle 
of the Marne, 07-11 Sep. 1914), "Aisne" (Battle 
of the Aisne, 06 Sep. - 01 Oct. 1914), "Ypres"
(Battle of Ypres, 19 Oct. - 22 Nov. 1914) , "Loos" 
(Battle of Loos, 25 Sep. 08 Oct. 1915).
Given the battles mentioned on the match box, 
the item most likely belonged to a member of the 
British Expeditionary Force.
