In 1831 following a local revolt, Neuchatel was declared an
independent from Prussia Republic.
The insurrection was swiftly crushed by the Prussian Army.
The medal was instituted in 1832 by King Friedrich Wilhelm III to
commemorate the suppression of the 1831 Revolt of Neuchatel.
It was awarded to all the inhabitants of the Principality who
