Product Information
Specification
Comoros - French Protectorate: Knight's Star in the Royal Order of
the Star of Anjouan.
Rare, WW1 example maker marked by Chobillon, Paris.
The Order was established in 1874, in 5 classes, by Mohamed Said
Omar, Sultan of Anjouan, to reward services to the Sultanate and to
France.
It became a French Colonial Order in 1896 and it was discontinued
by France in 1963, being replaced by the National Order of Merit.
It remained however in use by the Sultanate until Anjouan joined the
independent Comoros in 1975.
This is a nice example of the WWI era.
